Glenrothes
The Glenrothes is the creator and custodian of rare matured single malts produced by a small community of whisky makers in the heart of Speyside. The distillery was founded in 1879 in the old Glen of Rothes and has been an important part of the town of Rothes ever since – from the first coopers to the craftsmen of today.
It is one of the few distilleries in the world that still uses its own water source for every aspect of production. Fresh spring water from the Glenrothes Estate is naturally filtered through millions of years of volcanic rock on its way to the distillery, resulting in water that is remarkably soft and free of impurities. This exceptionally soft water is the basis for the elemental elegance that characterises the Glenrothes style.
