Brazil is the world’s leading producer of sugar cane. Some of it is used to distill cacha\u00e7a, probably the most widely drunk spirit in the world. Cacha\u00e7a can have a maximum alcohol content of 48%, anything above is marketed as aguardente de cana. Due to the outstanding quality of Brazilian sugar cane, a number of major international rum producers also source the molasses or even the finished distilled rums from Brazil.<\/p>\n

  • 1 lime (cut into eighths)<\/li>\n
  • 2 tsp white cane sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

    Preparation <\/div>\n

    Muddle a lime, cut into eighths, directly in the tumbler with a pestle. Add 6 cl Cacha\u00e7a 51 and 2 tsp white cane sugar and mix. Top up the glass with crushed ice, stir again carefully, garnish with two thick straws and a slice of lime.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n
